Sotto la direzione dei suoi più famosi tiranni Theron, vincitore dei Cartaginesi a Imera della battaglia nel 480 aC. la città fu abbellita e la valle di templi era circondata da un muro di 12 km. Agrigento è stata arricchita nel commercio del vino e l'olio.
